Team Cone’s Tallahassee Spring Rib Sale raises $13,500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Team Cone’s Tallahassee teammates hosted their annual Spring Rib Sale to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at their Tallahassee warehouse. Because of the generosity of those who participated, the company raised over $13,500 dollars in charitable donations. 2022’s Rib Sales have been broken company records in Ocala and Tallahassee, with both sales raising the most money in the history of the events. With both events and accompanying donations, Team Cone has raised over $26,500 to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“We were blown away again by the teamwork and generosity of our community,” said Steve Beckwith, Cone Distributing’s Vice President of Operations. Team Cone’s Area Sales Manager Kenny Kinsey was grateful he had so much help.

“We have to thank all of the people who helped us with this event, Kim Boyer, Don Buie, Teddy Brown, Mike Faulkner, and Steve Verhage. We also thank our company’s president, Mr. Doug Cone, for buying the meat for us to sell. Special thank yous to Wakulla County Sheriff Jared Miller, Dale Evans, Mack’s Meats, Miller’s Tree Service, and Ryan Laird for all the help. The Spring Rib Sales in Ocala and Tallahassee are part of Team Cone’s annual company-wide fundraising goal to make an impactful donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Team Cone will host an additional Rib Sale in both Ocala and Tallahassee in the Fall. The global pandemic has presented new challenges to Team Cone’s event-based fundraisers, but the team remains committed to helping St. Jude and other charities fulfill their mission. The beer distributor continues to host safe events and fundraising drives to help raise funds for St. Jude and other charities in accordance with one of their Core Values: “Giving Back with Caring.”

Team Cone donates over $105,000 to Saint Jude after 2019 fundraising campaign

Ocala- and Tallahassee-based beer distributor Cone Distributing (Team Cone) combined forces with community members throughout the company’s 22-county footprint to give $105,500 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“This was effort was truly from the team,” says Team Cone founder and president Douglas Cone, Jr.  “Hats off to our team and all they did to raise these funds. No event was organized and mandated. Each time we raised money, the effort started with one teammate saying, ‘I want to help.’ This truly was a team effort in 22 counties, and we could not have done it without our community and retail partners helping our teammates.”

2019 marks the eleventh year that Team Cone has hosted events and community activities throughout the 22 counties they serve to make a large donation to the hospital.  Team Cone’s business partners host events, collect funds, make donations, or work to support the company’s annual drive for St. Jude.

July 29th, 2019 (Ocala, Florida) The leadership of Cone Distributing (Team Cone) is proud to announce that the company has been named to Florida Trend Magazine’s 2019 list of Best Companies to Work For in Florida™.

Team Cone earned this designation after evaluation by an independent third-party organization of the company practices, policies, information, and especially employee satisfaction surveys.  The anonymous employee satisfaction surveys contributed 75% to the overall competition score.

Team Cone’s Human Resources Director Jonathan Jarrell attributes employee satisfaction to Team Cone’s emphasis on Core Values and company culture.  “Being voted one of the Best Companies to Work For in Florida means that our teammates love coming to work here,” says Mr. Jarrell,  “We promote and reward teammates that are committed to our culture and we are investing our resources in developing people to their fullest potential both at work and in their personal lives.”

“Making this list of Best Companies took a lot of work,” says Team Cone veteran Key Account Manager Charlie Feagin.  Feagin celebrated his 23-year employment anniversary with Team Cone on the same day that the company announced its place on the list of Best Companies to Work For in Florida.  “But now, more than ever, our teammates are showing how much the company’s Core Values like Team, Communication, and Giving Back With Caring mean to them.”

The title is most significant for the company’s founder.  “This designation, to me, is probably one of the greatest honors that this company has had in its 34 years of existence,” says Douglas P. Cone, Jr., Team Cone’s founder and president.  “We are humbled by it, we are proud to have earned it, and we’ll be proud to try to keep it and make sure that every day going forward we deserve what we’ve earned.”

About Florida Trend’s Best Companies to Work For in Florida™ competition

Each year, Florida Trend Magazine partners with the Best Companies Group to administer anonymous surveys to employees in eligible companies around Florida.  Employers complete an in-depth questionnaire and employees will have the opportunity to offer their honest feedback by taking part in a company-wide survey. Once both portions of the assessment are complete, the data is analyzed to determine if an organization has what it takes to be the “best.”  The list of Best Companies is published in the August edition of Florida Trend Magazine.
