Team Cone donates over $85,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2022

Ocala- and Tallahassee-based beverage distributor Cone Distributing (Team Cone) combined forces with community members throughout the company’s 22-county footprint to give over $85,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 

At the beginning of 2022, Team Cone set a goal to raise $40,000 for their annual donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. After donating over $70,000 in 2021, Team Cone knew that their teammates would pull together and fundraise a sizeable donation to the hospital following the COVID years.

“To Team Cone, one of our most loved Core Values is Giving Back With Caring,” says Charlie Ingrilli, Team Cone’s Vice President of Development. “Our team knows what an impact this annual donation can make and that is what drives us – making a difference in the lives of the children of St. Jude. Being able to say that we more than doubled our goal and raised $85,339 shows us how much our teammates value giving back.”

In 2022, former Team Cone teammate Ben Whiting held a fundraiser called “No One Fights Alone” at the Gator Nationals Drag Race and raised an $18,145 donation. Ben joined his donation to Team Cone’s to have an even greater impact for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, bringing the final donation for 2022 to $103,484.

2022 marks the 14th year that Team Cone has hosted events and community activities throughout the 22 counties they serve to make a large donation to the hospital.  Team Cone’s business partners collect funds, make donations, or work to support the company’s annual drive for St. Jude. In those 14 years, Team Cone and their community have together raised $557,247 for the nonprofit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Planning and progress are already underway for Team Cone’s 2023 St. Jude fundraisers.  The company’s goal this year is to carry on the legacy of community contribution by continually giving back with caring.

Team Cone’s vision is to create and maintain a world-class organization. As our organization continues to evolve, we are continually evaluating our needs. Team Cone is excited to announce the promotion of Jeff Bucklen to Vice President of Sales to lead the Sales Department.

The promotion will be effective January 1, 2023. His career began with Team Cone on August 14th, 1995. He began as a Delivery Driver and worked his way into the Sales Department and was promoted to Area Sales Manager (ASM). From Sales, Jeff worked as the Red Bull Manager, Key Account Manager (KAM), Director of Key Accounts, Sales Manager, and most recently General Sales Manager responsible for both Ocala and Tallahassee Sales Departments. In January of 2019, Jeff was named a Team Cone Legend, celebrating over 20 years with Team Cone. Jeff was in the first group of Team Cone Legends, a group of people who have worked for Team Cone for 20 years or more.

He embraces Team Cone’s mindset of continuous improvement. Jeff has been through extensive internal and external training working to build and enhance his leadership skills and become a world-class leader including Train the Trainer, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, World Class Way, and many other trainings and conferences.

Jeff says that the best part about working here with Team Cone “is being a part of Team, but really more of a family. I feel like I am with family when I am at work. Everyone cares for one another inside and outside of work and Team Cone is a place you want to be.”

To address this need we have decided to align our resources and create a new position, Vice President of Development.

Charlie was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin and is a proud graduate of Marquette University. He has two younger brothers and sisters and has been married to his wife, Sarinee, for 36 years. They have two daughters, Amanda and Krista, who are their pride and joy. His hobbies are all sports, especially basketball and golf.

Charlie spent 20 years with Miller Brewing Company before joining Team Cone. In his tenure there, he excelled and moved through many positions. In 1998 he made the decision to join Team Cone as Vice President of Sales. Charlie was named a Team Cone Legend in 2018 at the inaugural Legends Dinner. He has continually shown the ability to develop strong high performing teams. With his leadership, our Sales Team has grown to be one of the best in the industry. Charlie is a lifetime learner and embraces Team Cone’s culture of continuous improvement. I know he will excel in this new challenge and will position us for continued success.

Departments that will be working with this position are Training, Human Resources, Marketing, Engagement and Charitable Contributions, and Revenue Management.

Charlie will be moving to this new position effective January 1, 2023. He has a passion for our culture and was a member of the team that created our Vision, Mission, and Values. He is dedicated to the development and success of our teammates, which made this decision a natural progression.

Team Cone’s Tallahassee Fall Rib Sale raises $12,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Team Cone’s Tallahassee Spring Rib Sale raises $13,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Team Cone’s Tallahassee teammates hosted their annual Fall Rib Sale to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at their Tallahassee warehouse. Because of the generosity of those who participated, the company raised over $13,000 dollars in charitable donations. 2022’s Rib Sales have broken company records – in fact the only fundraiser that raised more money than this Rib Sale was the Spring Rib Sale in Tallahassee, with both sales raising the most money in the history of the events. With both events and accompanying donations, Team Cone is close to their 2022 St. Jude fundraising goal of $40,000.

“Our team stepped up to the plate and hit a home run for St. Jude,” said Steve Beckwith, Cone Distributing’s Vice President of Operations. “Time after time, we are proud and thankful that our team, our suppliers, and our community all stand up to help us fundraise for this great charity.” Team Cone’s Area Sales Manager Kenny Kinsey was grateful he had so much help. “I know I can always count on my teammates to step up and help with this event,” Kinsey said.

“We have to thank all of the people who helped us with this event, Kim Boyer, Don Buie, Mike Faulkner, Kyle Barnes, Chris Yates, Stephen Beasley, Jim Anderson, Dan Waldman, and Steve Verhage. We also thank our company’s president, Mr. Doug Cone, for buying the meat for us to sell. Special thank yous to Wakulla County Sheriff Jared Miller, Mack’s Meats,  Centennial Bank, Dux’s Discount Liquor, Miller’s Tree Service, Callaway Auto, Residential Elevator, and Terri Fort of the Shell Point Community for all their help and contributions.”

Team Cone hosts two Rib Sales in both Ocala and Tallahassee, one sale in the Fall and one in the Spring. Team Cone’s Spring Rib Sale raises over $17,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Team Cone’s Spring Rib Sale raises over $17,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Team Cone hosted their annual Fall Rib Sale to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at their Ocala warehouse. Because of the generosity of those who participated, the company raised $17,340 dollars in charitable donations. 2022’s Fall Rib Sale is the company’s best Rib Sale fundraiser yet – breaking the company’s donation record (previously set by the 2022 Spring Rib Sale) and selling 450 ribs along with several generous community donations.

“We had a great turnout this year,” said Charlie Ingrilli, Cone Distributing’s Vice President of Sales. “We have to thank all of the people who helped us with this worthwhile event, starting with the cooks: Matt Brady and the Brady family, Eric Bozeman, Mike Burdett, Clarence Thomas, John Finch, Brian Smith, Hunter Spink, and our team’s friends and family. Also, we need to thank those who helped set up and tear down: Clarence Thomas, Rose Romero, Hunter Spink, Jeff Hess, John Finch, and Ty Chatterton. We also thank our company’s president, Mr. Doug Cone, for buying the ribs for us to sell.”

The Fall Rib Sale is the second Rib Sale the company hosts each year and a part of Team Cone’s annual company-wide fundraising goal to make an impactful donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The global pandemic has presented new challenges to Team Cone’s event-based fundraisers, but the team remains committed to helping St. Jude and other charities fulfill their mission.
